The St. Louis Post-Dispatch led with the standings, not the goal, and that was the right call. The Blues had lost four straight to Central Division teams, to Colorado, Chicago, Minnesota and Nashville, and their only division win was the opener in Dallas. On Tuesday they beat the Jets 2-1 at Enterprise Center. It opened a five-game homestand. It also stopped a two-game losing streak.

Philip Broberg scored the winner on the power play in the third, a one-timer, and finished with a goal, an assist, six shots and 23:41. He had a hand in the first goal too. At 12:30 of the first he found Dylan Holloway through the Winnipeg seam, Holloway centered it, and the puck went in off Jimmy Snuggerud's skate. Snuggerud has scored in consecutive games. Holloway's assist ran his point streak to five. The Post-Dispatch noted it was only the third Blues goal this season with the Holloway-Snuggerud-Robert Thomas line on the ice together. Thomas, quiet in the box score of this one, still has 14 points in his last 11 games against Winnipeg.

Winnipeg tied it 32 seconds into the third. Cole Perfetti scored on a backhand, his sixth goal in nine games, and the Jets had a 1-1 game they were controlling by the shot clock. They finished with 33 shots to St. Louis's 28. They also went 0 for 3 on the power play. The Blues were 1 for 5, and the one was Broberg's.

Joel Hofer made 32 saves for his third win of the season and, the Post-Dispatch noted, the fourth of his career against his hometown team. Winnipeg has lost three straight. St. Louis is 4-4-1, which does not look like much until you remember what the division had been doing to them.
