New Orleans led for most of the fourth quarter and lost by one anyway. Jaren Jackson Jr. had 24 points and 10 rebounds. Rookie Darryn Peterson made the free throws that put Utah ahead with 50.5 seconds left. The Jazz won 120-119. In the last minute the officials upheld a charging foul on Zion Williamson, and Dejounte Murray's pull-up at the buzzer missed. That was the game.

Keyonte George had 19 points and 10 assists. Jaxson Hayes scored 17. Williamson finished with 23. Saddiq Bey had 20. The Pelicans are 0-2, and they have led in the second half of both. Yves Missi, their starting center, hurt his left knee in the second quarter, had to be helped to the locker room, and did not return. He will be checked again Saturday. Utah is 1-1.

A one-point loss with a charge call at the end will be the thing New Orleans argues. The knee is the thing that actually changes the next game. Utah just had to make the free throws and survive the last look.
