Milwaukee had a basketball game and a baseball game on the same Friday, and baseball won the clock. The Bucks tipped off four hours early so the Brewers could play Game 1 of the World Series that night. Chicago won the early one, 132-125. Norman Powell scored 25. Rookie Caleb Wilson had 21. Leonard Miller added 19. The Bulls, who had opened with a 135-92 loss in Toronto, looked like a different team once the ball went up in the afternoon.
The Bucks' new lead guard was the best player on their side and it did not matter. Tyler Herro, a Milwaukee-area native who arrived from Miami in the trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo the other way, scored 34. Jaime Jaquez Jr., another former Heat forward in that deal, had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Kyle Kuzma scored 14. Myles Turner had 12. Jalen Smith grabbed 13 rebounds and scored 14 for Chicago. Buddy Hield had 13. The Bucks are 0-2 after a loss in Washington on Wednesday.
A city can love two teams on one night. It cannot give both of them the evening. Basketball went first, the visitors left with the win, and the ballpark got the hours that were left.
